Atonement, Amsterdam, The Children Act, On Cecil Beach are but a few of the best sellers, by Ian McEwan, whereof several have become Hollywood movies. To these he recently added Machines Like Me addressing the potential role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) machine morals and his latest The Cockroach dealing with Brexit. It was refreshing to enter the no-spin zone free of bluster and lies that is all too often the fodder for today’s news. Mr. McEwan shared stories and anecdotes from his writings and how he developed ideas into the concepts and story lines of his books. He also admitted that he just wrote sometimes without a clearly defined beginning or end. A candid and refreshing 75 minute talk with the most asked after guests at these author interviews that is now into it’s tenth year at Malmö Stadsbibliotek.
